Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatu Allah wa Barakatuh,
The Farm of Peace extends a warm invitation to the beloveds of Allah to gather for Sufi School East, October 10th-13th, for teachings and heart-centered conversations around the theme of “Walking the Path of Light in Times of Darkness”.
Since our last gathering in 2019, there have been many events, in our community and worldwide, that hold profound spiritual impact and meaning, but also offer a rare opportunity for greater proximity to Allah and nearness to one-another as a community of Allah’s lovers and servants. We intend for this event to orient hearts toward Allah
swt, and to help us respond with clarity and strength to what He is calling each of us toward.
Please join us in offering prayer and glorification of our beloved Lord, drinking from the teachings, taking part in discussion circles, sharing meals, restoring old connections and meeting new companions on The Path. We ask Allah SWT to gather us and help us succeed in doing what is pleasing to the Most High.

- Full Program (Adults) – $350
- One day only – $150
- Beginners (Path of Love Program, Sat – Sunday) $150 for two days
- Children’s Program (6-12) – $35 a day for materials
- Teens (no specific program) – Free

Event Highlights
- Traditional teachings anchored in Sufi wisdom, the Quran and the Sunnah
- Zawiyya with Amina Al-Jamal and Rahima Eva Stipl – read and write the dozens of books published by our Sufi guide and beloved teacher – Sidi Muhammad Sa’id al-Jamal ar-Rifa’i ash-Shadhdhili – and receive guidance and healing around whatever comes up into your heart.
- Daily heart-centered discussion circles, and panels with Q&A
- Congregational daily prayers, early morning practices, and daily Dhikrs
- Daily movement, including breathing exercises and stretching, rooted in Sufi tradition
- One Special Khalwa for Peace night (group retreat into deep prayer and remembering God)
- The Path of Love beginners program – an introduction to the path of divine love

Newcomer's Program
The Path of Love

The Path of Love is an special introduction to the Sufi Path for those are are either very new on the path or seeking to learn more about it. This 2-day program will take place on Saturday (10/11) and Sunday (10/12), and participants can join the main group on Friday and Monday.

If you need transportation from an area airport and do not wish to rent a car, here are some options:
1. Individual Drivers
We usually have locals willing to shuttle to/from Baltimore (BWI), Dulles (IAD), and National* (DCA). Join our WhatsApp group for participants to offer or request a shared ride.
Click here for info about public transport options from DC region airports to Frederick, MD MARC Train station which is 1 hr from Farm and a more convenient pick up/drop off for our volunteer drivers. Public transport includes DC Metro and MARC train services. Travel time is approximately 2.5 hours to Frederick.
*DCA warning: Traffic makes Reagan National the least preferred airport, it can add 1-2 hours of travel time and some of our drivers will not go there. Plan on about 2 hours to/from Dulles and BWI.
2. Bayrunner Shuttle – Western Maryland
Bayrunner operates a daily shuttle from/to BWI Airport Rail Station and Western Maryland with various stops in between. Note: Women traveling alone or with small children may not be comfortable using this shuttle, as of some of the other passengers may be just released from or visiting relatives in regional prisons.
If your travel schedule fits, please book directly with Bayrunner for transport to/from BWI and BWI MARC station and request a ride from there. There may be an additional small fee.
Bayrunner can take you from BWI airport or BWI Amtrak train station to Hancock, Md. (about 15 minutes from the Farm of Peace.) It also stops at the Baltimore Greyhound Bus station, and the Frederick, Md., MARC train and bus station.

Our site is a stunningly beautiful and yet rustic working farm, with dirt roads for strolling, port-a-potties, and picnic tables. We will be setting aside many modern conveniences and worldly cares during the time we gather. Our hope is that with preparation, you can use this natural setting to deeply walk closer to Allah. Teachings take place in our beautiful mosque/teaching barn, inshaAllah. Temperatures in the fall can range from the high 80’s during the day to the low 60’s at night. Or it might be warmer than that … or cooler … possibly some rain.

No pets: For the health and safety of your pets, other visitors and our livestock, please make arrangements for family pets offsite.
Note that we maintain a drug- and alcohol-free environment at the Farm of Peace. Smoking in designated areas only. Thank you.
Suggested Clothing
We request that everyone who attends the events dress in a modest manner, which in our way means covering arms, legs and head (for women) and loose clothing (for everyone). In our tradition we also cover our heads during prayers. Please be mindful of the other guests coming from different cultures, and be aware that modest attire is requested because the teachings are in the same space in which we pray.
Trash & Recycling
We are committed to walking lightly on the earth, protecting our environment and minimizing the amount of trash resulting from our event. We invite everyone who comes to the Farm of Peace to leave no trace. Our goal is for Sufi School East to become a zero waste event.
We provide dispensers with drinking water in multiple locations, so you can leave your bottled water at home. Instead, bring a re-usable bottle or cup with a lid.
Before you pack something disposable, ask yourself, ìs it recyclable? Is is compostable? Is it reusable? If not, we request that you take it home with you (coffee cups, food wrappers, plastic bags, etc.).

A lost and found box will be kept near the front entrance of the Teaching Barn (either on the porch or to the right inside the door).
A list of any items left after the event will be emailed to participants.
If left unclaimed for more than a month, items will be donated.
