Community Gatherings

The Farm of Peace, its buildings, walking paths, and verdant fields are designed to accommodate a variety of gatherings, from intimate groups of fewer than ten to larger events of more than two hundred.

The biggest and grandest of these events is the annual Sufi School East, usually held in the late summer. Read more here.

Throughout the year, various interactive workshops are offered by our local (and non-local) teachers, covering topics such as divine relationships, Sufism for newcomers, our guide’s teachings, or gardening.

Traditional holidays are celebrated as well, such as Thanksgiving when the Farm hosts a turkey feast. Old and new friends gather to give thanks and experience a day of gratitude.

New Year’s Eve is also marked by an all-night prayer vigil where beloveds share their intentions for the new year. At midnight, everyone takes a lively break for treats, embraces, and new year’s wishes. And then, revelers enjoy the Farm’s traditional pancake breakfast on January 1st. Other times throughout the year also offer opportunities for “khalwa” (a holy night of prayer, and no requirement to stay all night!).

And finally, throughout the week, community members gather for scheduled practices, such as dhikr on Sunday nights, and Friday Jum’ah prayer, where our local Imam inspires us to remember our Creator.
